Here at ROAM Yoga, we know that yoga is so much more than downward facing dog on a mat. It also includes refining awareness of intention, illuminating pathways to clarity of mind, and connecting to our deeper Selves. We have crafted this retreat first and foremost as an opportunity to connect, to unite, to come together around enjoying an adventure together. We offer many options to explore your yoga practice.
Of course, we have yoga mat practices on offer twice per day. Mats are provided for you, so you will not need to bring your own. We practice on a beautiful deck on the sea shore. These practices vary daily in style but all are specifically designed to invite you to sense into your needs for movement, release and rest. Your hosts Miriam and Kate will craft the classes for your particular group, complementing their Trauma Conscious lens with creativity, experience, and fun. We get to enjoy a practice with a local island teacher, Miriam's first yoga teacher Christeen, on her amazing yoga deck right on the beach.
Intentional and mindful movement is an important way to realize our whole-body unity. We include a variety of opportunities like: Roatan local Susi's fun Body Sculpting workout; fabulous creative flows with Kate; strenuous hiking; joyful dancing; snorkeling, swimming & floating in the incredibly comfortable ocean; slow walks on the beach; and swinging leisurely in the hammock. We believe that mindful movement is allowing yourself to choose a modality that acknowledges your mood and current state. In this way, you can realize that moving your body doesn't have to be extreme! It can be gentle.
Yoga Practice can also include meditation and pranayama (energy awareness). Enjoy opportunities for intentional meditation, including: guided seated meditation, an ocean floating meditation, and a walking jungle meditation. These meditations are informed by an awareness of and connection to energy, and in this case Caribbean energy and how we feel and sense it in ourselves.
In addition, we include ceremony and workshops. Our cacao-assisted Equinox Ceremony will guide us to clarify our heart spaces and direct our deeper intentions. An asana workshop answers your questions about how to practice specific poses, and a yoga philosophy workshop will introduce you to deeper yoga study.
