10 Reasons to ROAM: A compelling retreat countdown! #10

Updated: Dec 2

REASON #10

You will be part of the smallest small yoga retreat business in the Northern Minnesota, making BIG IMPACT!

Do you like to Support Small? It is becoming increasingly more difficult these days to put your money where your values are. In the Yoga Retreat realm, any internet search will find thousands of international retreats to join, many of whom are managed by large corporations.

If you support local small businesses and are looking to have an incredible, authentic, and IMPACTFUL experience, we are about as local as it gets. We both grew up on the tip of Lake Superior and traveled to live on other coasts following our dreams and adventures. Now, we are here, with the deep drive to share our next adventure with YOU!

Joining us for this specially curated experience to Roatan, Honduras March 21-28, 2025, also means personally engaging with a small women owned business that creates experiences to share with you. We want to travel with you. On this retreat, YOU are the point. This is what Supporting Small means to us. On a personal level we believe that you are your greatest adventure!

Choosing this retreat, means you are also supporting the small community hosting us.

The vast majority of yoga retreat endeavors exploit the people and places that they descend on. In my (Miriam's) travels through the Mexico and Central America, I have seen the incredible beauty of the cultures and nature taken advantage of by the tourism industry financially, ecologically, and culturally. There is very little trickle-down to the communities in these cases, and that means tourism does not always benefit the people who need it most.

Doing this retreat means ROAM Yoga positively impacts small island businesses and can contract directly with vendors. (Saving YOU money and putting income right into their pockets.) You will have the option to visit and volunteer at a school (that Miriam started in 2001)! You will be eating the meals prepared by local islanders. You will enjoy a mangrove tour on a dory (Roatan-style boat) with an Islander. You will partake of other local islander-owned businesses like the Iguana Sanctuary and ocean-side cafes. We will host native island elder Miss Daine, a master storyteller to talk to share about her life, history, and culture of Roatan. You can expect an authentic, equitable, and engaged experience that positively impacts the community we are there to enjoy!

We invite you to consider ROAMing with us. Stay tuned over the coming weeks as we share more compelling reasons to join your favorite local yoga guides in Roatan, Honduras, March 21-28!!

Til Then, Travel Light!
