Anticipation for Adventure!

Kate and I sat down and indulged ourselves in anticipating our upcoming adventure to Roatan. We are so excited to return to this Caribbean Island vibrating with unique character. We have organized a one-of-a-kind yoga retreat that is part yoga, part ocean & jungle, part deeper connection to place and self, part meaningful ritual, part adventure, part relaxation, and ALLLLLLL about stepping out of the cold Minnesota winter and into the Caribbean's warm embrace.

This was the consistent feedback from our debut retreat participants:

"Each day was a surprisingly harmonious balance of thoughtfully crafted adventures, education, and free time."

-KT

It's a wonderful thing when your retreat participant more clearly and succinctly outlines your complete vision than you could have yourself! We have crafted an itinerary that offers these three pillars all on "island time", so that you can do it all and still feel rejuvenated (and by the way, we also stand by our "opt-in or opt-out" policy at all times).

So, what exactly is on offer for this marvelous journey???

First, know that all group transport whilst on island is included. We are at a self-contained resort off-the-beaten path, away from the bustling tourist areas, so that you can be surrounded by jungle and have the ocean at your feet through a mangrove tunnel. Therefore, we will have our own van for transport everywhere we go.

Within the week, we have three intentional circles for heart opening, connection and personal insight. These are meaningful and powerful ways to connect your heart to place through reflection and ritual.

Each day we have carefully planned a satisfying variety of events for your enjoyment.

Here is a typical day:

AM:

Yoga (Kate, Miriam & local guest instructors)

Breakfast - Deliciously prepared hot healthy food with fresh fruits

  • Free time (pool, nap, read, hang out together, get a massage, daydream, kayak)

or

  • Specialty activity (learn a Mudra Prayer with Miriam, enjoy an embodied ocean meditation from summit to sea, join Kate for R.O.A.M. -Resonant, Organic, Authentic Movement-, learn how to make tortillas with Supi, etc)

Lunch - freshly prepared Island Feast (think fresh salads, coconut rice & beans, homemade corn tortillas, fresh fish...you get the idea)

PM:

Group Adventures to include:

  • A hike through Carambola Gardens to learn flora and explore jungle up to an amazing ocean viewing platform

  • A visit to Bay Islands International School, founded by Miriam (follow the school link> About Us>Founder to read all about it)

  • Two beach days to the iconic white sand beaches of Roatan, (like West Bay Beach), where you can lounge in the shade under a palm tree, go for a swim, frolic in the ocean, or take SUP for spin

  • A visit to Roatan Institute for Deep See Exploration to meet the engineer, Karl Stanley, of his homemade yellow submarine, Idabel, where he shares about: building the sub; testifying at the OceanGate Titan submersible implosion trials (Karl took a trip on Titan a year before it imploded!); his deep sea research and what bizarre wildlife he has seen; remarkable guests he's had in the sub; and more!

Dinner - A delightful variety of options that change each day: from at the resort; to a special meal prepared by Miriam & Kate; to local restaurants

Pre-Bed Yoga - to end your day with Yintegration ;)

We will also have a FULL DAY Island Excursion that includes a ride up to the East, and far less touristy, end of the island. We will jump out in the most miraculous shallow blue lagoon (more on this from Kate in our next blog), take a walk through a local community to get some snacks and admire native islander homes, enjoy lunch up-island at a spectacular over-look with fabulous island food, and perhaps make a stop at the (in) famous corporate regulation and tax evasion haven for billionaires, Prospera - Just kidding. We won't do that. (Here is a good updated podcast about it though.)

Friends, this is only a glimpse. There is so much to share, that I truly am overwhelmed in trying to convey as much as I can in this brief blog. We will keep sending out blogs weekly until we go, to share the magic and meaningfulness of what is coming.
