Six months ago, on the Vernal Equinox, we arrived to Roatan Island as a perfect group of ten. Our first day, we went to a Honduran Cacao factory. We learned about how cacao is grown and harvested, its sacred meaning in Mayan Culture, its potency and protection. A primary power of cacao is the way it slightly accelerates heart rate, which when consumed in moderation, is a natural, subtle stimulant. In this way, Mayan people knew the power of cacao to strengthen and fortify oneself with energy for important or challenging rituals, be they physical or spiritual.
We utilized the Honduran cacao that we directly purchased from the Honduran processors in our cacao ceremony that afternoon. We circled in intention, in sisterhood, in curiosity. We shared a cacao ceremony ritual of connecting to all directions and elements, and then calling ourselves into time and space by threading our heart threads into the land on which we stood, and subsequently, each thread from our hearts into the hearts of each other.

Then we each sat with a question of two sides: What to nurture? And what to surrender?
The balance of day & night that characterize each equinox as we gently transition from one into the other gives us occasion to pause. In this pause, we can intentionally reflect on how we want to enter into the realm currently increasing around us: the yin (night) or the yang (day). If we are losing light, how can we protect and ensure illumination lingers and does not dim where it is needed most? And how can we embrace and surrender into the spaces of death, decay, decomposition, to craft fertile ground for subsequent growth?
Six months later, on the Autumnal Equinox, I reflect on these exact considerations. We have opened enrollment for our next voyage to Roatan, and having had such a powerful, adventurous, and transformational experience on our first one, I am really grounded to welcome with open-hearted threads those that will join us for the next one. This Autumnal Equinox, as you pause to reflect on what to preserve and what to surrender in the dark dark months ahead, imagine yourself on this adventure in six months. Does it fit into a growth vision that you have for yourself? Maybe that growth comes through rest & relaxation, maybe it's a completely new perspective, maybe it's meaningful connection.
All of which are on the menu March 6-13, 2026 on our retreat to Roatan, Honduras! Spots are filling, so if experiences like the ones described above interest you, now is the time to step forward and make the choice to join. We can't wait to co-create this great adventure with YOU!
